GET INVOLVED WITH OUR COMMUNITY TASK FORCE
The next phase of the Bronx River Inter-Municipal Watershed will focus on protecting and restoring this vital natural resource for future generations.
While the village of Ardsley does not directly source its water from the Bronx River, we are excited about this updated plan, which builds upon previous efforts by addressing climate change and environmental justice, while promoting a collaborative approach to watershed management. The plan introduces more than 160 new projects aimed at restoring the Bronx River, along with policies and educational initiatives to support the community.
Though the Bronx River primarily flows through the Bronx and Westchester County and does not serve as a direct water source for Ardsley, it is an important waterway. Ardsley typically gets its water from other sources, such as reservoirs or municipal systems managed by the local water authority. Nevertheless, the Bronx River plays a crucial role in the larger watershed, and its health is essential for maintaining the overall environmental quality of the region. Way to go, Bronx!

Water quality standards (WQS) are rules that help keep our rivers, lakes, and oceans clean and safe. They describe how clean the water should be and what needs to be done to protect it.
These standards help protect people who use the water for swimming, boating, and fishing - and they also help protect the fish, plants, and other animals that live in the water. Governments - like states, tribes, and the federal government - create these standards, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approves them. These rules are important for limiting pollution and keeping our water healthy for everyone.
